Pace Feeding / Bottle Feeding a Breastfed Baby

It is important to understand that nipple confusion is a misunderstood concept. It is a flow preference. When a baby is feeding from a breast they need to work harder and suck more. They usually do 3 sucks followed by a swallow/pause. When you start introducing a bottle you need to pace feed. That means 3 suck and than take a break. Otherwise baby will easily take down the bottle and may begin to prefer the bottle over the breast. (Which is completly fine if that's what you want!) but if you are determined and dedicated to breastfeed it is important to understand.
